About Me

My photo
Flint, North Wales, United Kingdom
The business of photography has become tougher every year and this is not just down to the financial crisis. Everyone now considers themselves a photographer, even though they have no idea of the market they are dabbling in. This has destroyed business for the professionals and many can not survive and make an honest living. I have reverted to taking images for myself only and have to tend to a day job in order to continue my photography. This is the space I share my images, gripes and experiences.

New Contact

As I've been taking quite a few B&W images lately, I searched for a good printer in the local area.
Until a few days ago I was not really successful.
All I did was typed into google what I was looking for and... Voila!
The guy is a master photographer, predominantly working in his studio, who still runs a dark room.

I went to meet him yesterday and over a cup of coffee we discussed our future work together.
I guess I will be able to have my prints done now without having to send them away...as...this guy is only 5 miles away from my main place of work.

I am really chuffed! (big smile on my face)
Lets hope his work is good.

Cookie misbehaving!

Tried to shoot Cookie again. That stupid dog didn't want to sit still today.
I reverted back to decent (silly) old attention attractors, i.e. squeaky toys and making ridiculous sounds myself in order to get the 'pooch' to look into the lens.

Well, nothing really exciting came from it. All she wanted to do is chew on a pig's ear.
See for yourself.

I got so angry in the end that I had to abandon the idea of shooting in black and white film. Another day then where my Mamiya was not used.
:-(

New Shoot!

Its been a while since I shot some decent images. I dragged my old Mamiya RB67 along and even managed to fill two rolls of film.
Just please take my advice... never work with birds; especially parrots. They are a nightmare and tend to use foul language!
This lunatic tried to eat my film...!
Bastard!
However, I was rewarded as this little fellow was all the better when posing for my camera.
Just have to wait now until I get a chance to process the film. The wife is still a bit edgy about me dumping a lot of photography gear in the living room. I nearly got slapped when I decided to leave it for another day. :-(
But... I have to make a living somehow.

Back to the olde roots!

Dug out all my old medium format camera gear. It was not that I was planning to shoot much but my boss wanted to borrow my Peli Case for his 'delicate' electrnic gadgets.
Yeh, the boss has gone to the desert and used my case!
I should charge him a danger fee for that case. It cost me an arm and a leg. If he gets it blown up I end up havin' to get a new one. :-(

I've had my Mamiya RB 67 on my desk for a few days now and I have still not managed to take a few images. I just feel that every shot will cost me dearly. I will have to re-think...I realize that!
Maybe over the week-end.

Weather gone bad again!

The move is done and I am back to work. I hate it having to catch up again. It makes me feel asif I never worked there.

Gotta get up early tomorrow morning... actually dark o'clock. What bothers me is that I have to drive a van towing a heavy trailer up northe without winter tyres. Its been snowing again... to the extent that it may be dangerous.
Not just that but all that at 0400hrs in the morning?

Naa, not my cup of tea.

I hate the snow. Someone make it go away!
Please!

Move nearly done...

Its only been a few days of moving and I am nearly done. I hate moving furniture and luckily there is very little to get to the new house. All my 'stuff' has been packed and transferred.
I did however get a chance to take stock of all my photography gear. I figured out I have far too many cameras.
Funny thing is that my favorite is the oldest and cheapest of the lot!
Its my battered Nikon D1X that I bought through ebay.

I like how it takes images.
The wife would love me to fill the dust bin with Nikon equipment. That ain't gonna happen! However, I guess I shall not buy anymore for a long time.

I promise.

Moving Accommodation

As I am currently moving accommodation, I had to dig through quite a few boxes in order to decide what to keep and what to get rid of. They say that if you haven't touched it for more than 12 months... you don't need it and it can go.
Well, I am not getting rid of all my negatives, be they 35 mm or medium format.
I can't remember why I took this image but I must have been fascinated with a pile of bricks stacked on top of each other.
Its a weird one, I know.
The weather went bad again. I hate snow. It caused far too much trouble this winter.
Go away snow!
We don't want you here!
Doesn't help that I don't have any winter tires on my car.

Bugger!
